Lizzie Mae (Sharp) Hostetler

ALLENSVILLE – Lizzie Mae (Sharp) Hostetler, 93, of Allensville, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at the home of her daughter, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born April 23, 1921, in Belleville, a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Fannie K. (Detweiler) Sharp.

On Nov. 27, 1941, she married Korie C. Hostetler, who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2005.

Surviving are: five daughters and two sons, Anna Mary Zook and husband, Amos, of McVeytown, Linda Peachey, of Allensville, Esther Mast, of Winfield, Ella Mae Kauffman and husband, John Z., of Allensville, Elsie Kauffman and husband, Ivan J., of Allensville, Samuel D. Hostetler and wife, Anna, Mae (Kauffman), of Belleville, and Jesse Lee Hostetler and wife, Lillian (Byler), of Melvern, Kansas; 43 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; a precious sister, Mrs. Sadie (Daniel) Byler, of Cortez, Colo.; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. (Crist) Malinda Sharp, Mrs. (Sim) Betty Sharp and Mrs. (John P.) Betty Sharp.

She was preceded in death by: two daughters, Sylvia Miller and an infant daughter; three grandsons, Robert Kauffman, Wilmer Zook and Joseph Hostetler; three granddaughters, Mary Joy Kauffman, Esther Hostetler and an infant granddaughter; one sister, Fannie Yoder; and six brothers, Jesse, David, Crist, Joe, Sim and John Sharp.

Grandmother was a homemaker and went to market for many years with lots of baked goods and fresh meats. She was famous for making delicious moon pies.

She committed her life to the Lord in her youth, and was a member of the Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church in Belleville. In the past three years, she spent some time in Lyndon, Kansas, with her son, Jesse and Lillian’s family making many precious memories and dear friends.

Grandmother was a “treasure from the Lord” and was “special” to a lot of people because of her many acts of service and caring personality.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, with Bishop David J. Peachey and Ministers David J. Peachey, David Byler and Jesse Lee Spicher officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Ivan J. Kauffman residence, 706 state Route 655, Allensville, and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church on Green Lane, Belleville.
