Charlotte A. Bickel

BEAVER SPRINGS – Charlotte A. Bickel, 83, of Beaver Springs, passed away at 9:08 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital in Lewistown.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1931, in McClure, a daughter of the late James and Grace (Oldt) Bickel. In 1948, she married Joseph Knepp, who preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1983.

Charlotte attended McClure area schools.

She was previously employed as a secretary for Bickel’s Wood Products in McClure.

Charlotte attended St. John’s “Ridge” Lutheran Church in McClure.

In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, flowers, watching the ducks and listening to the concerts in the park by her house, shopping at the Dollar General and at Walmart. The main love of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are: her companion of more than 10 years, Donald Weader; two sons, Danny J. Knepp, of Beavertown, and Timothy D. Knepp and fiancee, Kerry Duncan, of McClure; three daughters, Cathy Schreck and companion, Darlis Huffman, of McClure, Debra DeLong and husband, James, of Beavertown, and Tamara Swope and companion, Michael Whitman, of Northumberland; grandchildren, Penny Sue, Jeremy, Christina, Douglas, Troy, LaDawn, Zachary, Misty, Belynda, Crystal, Heather, Shaun, Brian, Jennifer, Beth, Rosanne, Christopher, Adam and Brittany; six step-grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James “Sonny” Bickel, of Mifflinburg; one sister, Susie Garrett and husband, Robert, of New Berlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one son, Joseph A. Knepp; one son-in-law, Scott Swope; one sister-in-law, Mildred Bickel; and one great-great- grandson, Rohen.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at St. John’s Ridge Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Pennebaker officiating. After the service, burial will be in the adjoining Black Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
