Betty E. ‘Mammie’ Peters
REEDSVILLE – Betty E. “Mammie” Peters, 92, of 188 E. Railroad St., Reedsville, died at 6:08 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Lewistown.
Born on Jan. 19, 1922, in Reedsville, Betty was the daughter of the late Clair Samuel Brininger and Elizabeth M. (Henry) Brininger. Her husband, James A. Peters, preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1989.
Betty is survived by: children, James L. Peters Sr. and wife, Carole, of Reedsville; grandchildren, Cheryl E. Vogt and husband, Andy, Barbara Watson and husband, Michael, and James L. Peters Jr. and wife, Kristin; great-grandchildren, Brittney St. Clair and husband, A.J., Tyler Watson, Kaitlyn Peters, and Brandon Vogt; and great-great-grandchildren, Ayden Watson and baby girl St. Clair due in October.
She was preceded in death by: a son, Gerald A. “Jerry” Peters; a still-born daughter; brothers, Clarence B. Brininger and Adam W. Brininger; and sister, Esther Rhoades.
Betty worked at American Viscose, in Lewistown, Gracie Dress Factory, in Reedsville, Hayes Cannery, Hanover Foods and cleaned at the Black Horse Tavern.
She was a member of the Reedsville United Methodist church. Betty loved her family and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking for others.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Pastor Jean Ward officiating. Burial will take place at Church Hill Cemetery, in Reedsville.
Family and friends will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
