Janis A. Oburn

McVEYTOWN – Janis A. Oburn, 76, of McVeytown, died at 3:39 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born October 31, 1937, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Powell) Snook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. “Bill” Oburn, Jr. on January 3, 1999.

Janis is survived by: her children, Robyn Stringfellow and husband, George, of Lewistown, Rhonda Hoffman and husband, Jeff, of McVeytown, Rock F. Oburn and wife, Margie, of Burnham, Rex A. Oburn and wife, Justine, of Atlas; grandchildren, Billie Jo, Derek, Dustin and wife, Jen, Tyler, Matthew, Joshua and wife, Kim, Denielle and husband David, Denton, Jenna and husband, Dustin, Jeremy and Jessica; great grandchildren, Xavier, Jayden, Dyson, Jazlynn, Addilynn, Morgan, Max and Liam; siblings, Joyce Kepner and husband, David of Lewistown, Jack Snook, of Burnham, and Jerry Snook and wife, Rita, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

She was a 1955 graduate of Chief Logan High School and then retired from Scotty’s Fashions in Lewistown. She was a member of the Lewistown C&MA Church.

Earlier in life, Janis enjoyed camping and loved spending time with her family.

Her family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Juniata Memorial Park.
