Margie M. Leitzel
McALISTERVILLE – Margie M. Leitzel, 87, of McAlisterville, died at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Jan. 1, 1927, in Wills Point, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Hester and Claudia (Hollis) McNorton. On Jan. 5, 1946, she married her late husband, James S. Leitzel Jr., with whom she was married to for 28 years, before he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1974.
Surviving are: her children, Thomas Leitzel and his wife, Linda, of McAlisterville, Deborah Regis, of Aurora, Ill., Richard Leitzel and his wife, Barb, of Harrisburg, Gregory Leitzel and his wife, Patty, Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren, Bradley Dietz, Anthony Regis, Nicole Regis, Peter James Regis and Ashley Reichenbach; 10 great- grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and she also leaves behind various nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Winnie Gee Shadid and a nephew.
She was a graduate of Sherman High School, Sherman, Texas, and her memberships included, the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, The Rebekah Lodge, the Women’s Club, all of McAlisterville, and at one time she was the Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 65, McAlisterville.
Mrs. Leitzel, along with her daughter in law, Linda owned and operated The Towne Shoppe, Mifflintown.
Margie was a homemaker who enjoyed playing golf but, her favorite pastime was working in her flower beds.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, with Pastor Michael Edwards officiating. After the service, interment will in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, at the church.
