Dr. Robert B. Sharps
MOON TOWNSHIP – Dr. Robert B. Sharps, 84, formerly of Moon Township, died on April 25, 2014.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1930, in Aliquippa, the son of the late Brent Sharps and Mabel (Chidester) Sharps.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant during the Korean conflict.
He went on to earn his doctorate in education and worked in the Moon Area School District as a middle school principal. He later went on to be the superintendent of The Wheeling School District in West Virginia and The Lewistown School District in Pennsylvania.
He was also a member of the Steffin Hill Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls.
He is survived by: His wife of more than 63 years, Virginia “Sue” (Sliker) Sharps; a son, Dan R. Sharps, of Beaver Falls; three grandchildren, Jodi Linnabary, Drew Linnabary and Carly Ann Sharps; one sister, Glenda Sharps; a special niece, Connie Sharps; a brother-in-law, John W. Phillis; and nephews, David, Kevin, Randy and Jeff Phillis.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; three brothers; two sisters; and his daughter, Debbie (Sharps) Linnabary.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Alquippa, 2345 Mill St., Alquippa. After the service, interment will be at Seceder Cemetery, Darlington.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the funeral home.
