Brooks E. Walters

MIFFLINTOWN – ? Brooks E. Walters, 81, entered into rest at 11:38 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at his home.

Born Aug. 7, 1932, in Mifflintown, he was a son of the late William Blaine and Carrie Mae (Varner) Walters.

He is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Margaret Elizabeth “Sue” (Parrish) Walters, whom he married on Oct. 25, 1959; two daughters, Tracy Lynn Wagner, of Lancaster, and Brenda Sue Walters and companion, Donald E. Brought, of Lewistown; one son-in-law, Roy F. Wagner, of Mifflintown; sisters and brothers, Ethel Bashore, Norma Parker, Clyde Walters, Loma and her husband, Donald Saner, and Larry Walters, all of Mifflintown, and Clifford Walters and wife, Joanne, of Reedsville; three grandchildren, Bobbie Sue Minium, Johnny Alexander Beers and Kaylee Brooke Wagner; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey Fultz and Ashton Howard.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Brooks graduated from Juniata Joint High School and was a heavy equipment operator on construction, working out of Operating Engineers Union Local 66B.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the cabin, collecting Indian artifacts and spending time with his family and friends. As a child, he spent a lot of time exploring Bell Island with his brothers and sisters.

His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Gay Irwin officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery.

There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.
