Gideon L. Yoder

McVEYTOWN – Gideon L. Yoder, 67, of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord at 12:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Valley View Haven in Belleville.

Born July 8, 1946, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Jesse J. and Annie M. (Byler) Yoder. His wife, Hazel R. (Rudy) Yoder, preceded him in death on July 17, 2006.

Surviving are: three children, Diane E. Yoder, of Harrisburg, Caryn J. Miller and husband, Penn, of Lititz, Daryn L. Yoder and wife, Samantha Carl-Yoder, of Sao Paula, Brazil; a sister, S. Martha Yoder, of Valley View Haven; a brother, Joshua D. Yoder and wife, Rebecca, of Belleville; three grandchildren, Brisa Miller, Soren Miller, and Matthew Carl-Yoder.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Yoder and Jesse Yoder.

He was employed as a truck driver for Chemgro Seeds.

Gideon was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville, and the Abundant Life Sunday School Class. He was also very active with the church mission board.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, with Ministers Max Zook and Gerald Peachey officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, as well as from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gideon’s name to the Mission Board of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 West Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.
