Rev. Marshall G. Deckard

LEWISTOWN – The Rev. Marshall G. Deckard, 81, of Lewistown, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 11:53 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at his home.

Born Feb. 14, 1933, in Selinsgrove, he was the son of the late Earl C. and Dorothy (Wilver) Deckard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra K. (Botteicher) Deckard, on March 14, 1986, and a sister, Barbara Byers.

He is survived by: his children, Terry C. Renninger and wife, Nikki, Fawn L. Jenkins, and Ginger Swartz Hoffer and husband, Kevin, all of Lewistown; grandchildren, Timothy Aumiller and wife, Kati, and Phillip Aumiller; great-grandchildren, Blake, Bryson and Evy; and his sisters, Audrey Smith, of Emlenton, and Carol Thebes, of Georgia.

He was a 1951 graduate of Duncannon High School and a graduate of Shippensburg University. He was a graduate of Course of Study at Wesley Seminary in Washington D.C.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He was a minister at several United Methodist Churches, serving parishes in Church Hill, Havice Valley, Shrader, Salem and Milroy.

He served as Lewistown Borough Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer.

He was a square dance caller and teacher for most of his life, throughout the East Coast.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Vicki Elmer officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
