Paul C. Renno

BELLEVILLE – Paul C. Renno, 91, of Valley View Terrace, Belleville, died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Valley View Haven.

He was born on June 4, 1922, in Belleville, a son to the late Joseph Y. and Annie (Yoder) Renno. His wife, Anna Mary (Hartzler) Renno, whom he married on Nov. 21, 1943, survives at home.

He is survived by: daughter, Mildred “Mid” Yoder and husband, Jim, of Belleville; daughter-in- law, Sirkka Renno, who resides in Finland; three grandsons, Sergio Renno, of Finland, Eric Yoder and wife, Kara, of Linville, Va., and Alex Yoder and wife, Shannon, of Harrisonburg, Va.; and a great-grandson, Ben Yoder.

He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by: a son, Harry L. Renno, in September 1987; a daughter, Fern Renno, in May 1951; and brothers, Jesse Renno and his wife, L. Mildred “Mid”, and Erie Renno and his wife, Verna.

He was a dairy farmer for a number of years, having moved off the family farm in 1963. He and his wife owned and operated a poultry farm for 49 years, and during that time he was also employed at Allensville Planning Mill for 25 years. He retired in 1985 from APM, but continued to work part-time until 1987.

Paul was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church. He served as a church elder, the Sunday school superintendent, and as a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the original board of directors at Valley View Haven, when it began.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Valley View Haven Chapel with Pastors Ivan Yoder and Max Zook officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Locust Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, at the chapel.
