Maxine E. Burchfield

MIFFLINTOWN – Maxine E. Burchfield, 87, of Mifflintown (Mexico), died at 12:12 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville.

Born on Jan. 19, 1927, in Walker Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse P. and Edith M. (McBurney) Fry.

Surviving are: her children, Ronald F. Burchfield, of Dillsburg, Roger A. Burchfield and his wife, Florence, of Mifflintown, and Beth A. Burchfield, of New Berlin; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son, Jesse Scott Burchfield, on Nov. 11, 1981, and an infant son.

Mrs. Burchfield was a 1945 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and a member of the Mexico United Presbyterian Church.

In 1987 she retired as a seamstress from Lyons Fashions, Mifflintown.

Maxine was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan, who loved her dogs and playing cards; however, her family was her utmost priority.

At her request a celebration of her life will be held later in the spring. Interment will be in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
