G. Louise Koontz

LEWISTOWN – G. Louise Koontz, 95, of Lewistown, went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to be renunited with many loved ones at 8:31 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Golden LivingCenter – William Penn.

Born on Oct. 2, 1918, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Chester I. and Rachel (McKinley) Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ernest J. Koontz, who died on Sept. 8, 1990; one brother, Robert W. Johnson; and two sisters, Erma Kochenderfer and Dorothy Kline.

Louise is survived by: her children, Gerald E. Koontz and wife, Mary Jane, and Donna Youtzy and husband, Jeffrey, both of Lewistown; five grandchildren, J.R. Koontz, of Lewistown, David Koontz and wife, Beth, of Burnham, Pamela Bowersox, of Port Royal, Michael Youtzy and wife, Stephanie, of Dillsburg, and Kelly Jones and husband, Chris, of Boiling Springs; 10 great-grandchildren, Seth Bowersox, Samantha Koontz, Emmy Koontz, Alyssa Koontz, Leah, Claire and Paige Youtzy and Brenna, McKenna and Noah Jones; siblings, Alma Jane Reed, of Burnham, Gladys Burd, of Lewistown, and Dennis L. Johnson and wife, Mary Lou, of Enola.

She was a 1936 graduate of Lewistown High School.

Early in life she worked at the American Viscose Corporation and was a clerk at Sears and Roebuck in Burnham, retiring in 1984.

Louise was a member of Lewistown Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, Christian Women’s Club and Alliance Women Missionary Support Group. She served as treasurer for both clubs. She attended the ladies bible study and was a “prayer warrior.”

Louise was a kind and sweet soul, always seeing the best in others. She loved following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in sporting events, and she was an avid NASCAR fan.

A funeral service for Louise will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Lewistown Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, with the Rev. John Looney officiating.

A viewing will also be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, and will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
