Florence B. Goss

BELLEFONTE – Florence B. Goss, 93, of State College, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.

She was born April 11, 1920, at Potters Mills, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Hattie Henry Leister.

Her husband, Earl Goss, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1937, in Hagerstown, Md., preceded her in death in August 1972.

Early in life, Florence worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory in Lewistown, and later in the Food Service Division at Penn State until 1972.

Mrs. Goss loved being with people and especially enjoyed playing Bingo.

Surviving are: two daughters, Jean M. Lohr, of Centre Hall, and Tandy Stewart and her husband, Robert, of Goldsboro, N.C.; one son, Blaine Goss and his wife, Reubina, of Greenville S.C.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sylvia Harper, of Mifflin.

In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by 10 siblings, Meda Wray, Verna Laub, and Frances Amspacker, William, Eugene, Lewis, Bryce, Clifford, George and Harold Leister,

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, P. C. 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Scott Klimke officiating. Burial will be in Meyer Cemetery, state Route 550, Bellefonte.

Friends will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
