Charles G. Passmore

LEWISTOWN – Charles G. Passmore, 82, of McVeytown, died at 5:32 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, in the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital emergency room.

Born Jan. 9, 1932, in State College, he was the son of the late Austin Earl Passmore and Harriet C. (Walizer) Passmore.

He is survived by: his wife, Helen (Anderson) Passmore, whom he married on July 19, 1963; his siblings, Elizabeth Ann McCalips and husband, Melvin, of Lewistown, Robert Austin Passmore and wife, Bonita, of Florida, and Deborah Carodiskey and husband, Thomas, of McVeytown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Sprinkle.

Charles was a 1950 graduate of Lewistown High School and a 1958 graduate of Juniata College.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1951 to 1954. He served on the USS Siboney CVE- 112 Escort Carrier, Norfolk, Va.

He was employed for the Pennsylvania Economy League in Harrisburg for seven years and was then employed for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 24 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren after transferring his membership from the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, Pine Glen Road, Lewistown, with the Rev. Donald Peters officiating. Military honors will be presented by the VFW Post #7011, Lewistown.

His family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the church. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
