Sarah J. Stoicheff

LEWISTOWN – Sarah J. Stoicheff, 72 years, of Logan St., Lewistown, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born Nov 14, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant Mills, the daughter of the late William R. and C. Mae (Newman) Heintzelman. Sarah is survived by her husband, K. Edward Stoicheff, whom she married in February 1970.

Also surviving are: children, Mark E. Stoicheff of Lewistown, Gail J. Stoicheff, of Brooklyn N.Y.; brothers and sisters, Shirley Rheam, of Sunbury, Floris Knouse, of Lewistown, Gary W. Heintzelman, of Mechanicsburg, Ralph G. Heintzelman, of Troxelville, Richard C. Lepley, of Mechanicsburg, Dean E. Lepley, of McClure, Fred Lepley, of Columbia, Erman Lepley, of Beaver Springs; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Heintzelman, and brothers William Heintzelman and William Lepley.

Sarah was a Registered Nurse at Lewistown Hospital Intensive Care for 22 years, retiring in 1984. She graduated from West Snyder High School and Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Greeter at Church, Lady’s Guild, and Mifflin County Historical Society, assisted in starting the first coronary Care Unit at Lewistown Hospital andworked the Thrift Shop of the church. She was Judge of Elections for Fifth Ward and Second Precinct in Lewistown.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Rev. William Weary officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. A viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Barr Funeral Home, Inc. 120 Logan St.
