John Michael Zannino
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. – John Michael Zannino, 61, died Jan. 2, 2014, at Willow Tree Manor, in Charles Town, W. Va.
Johnny was born July 24, 1952, in Lewistown. He was the son of the late Alfonso Zannino and Mary Joyce Taylor Janiczak.
He is survived by: his loving brother, Jimmy Zannino, of South Bend, Ind.; two daughters, Jennifer and Kristina Zannino; and three grandsons, Darian Hampton, Camren Wilkes and Keaton Younker.
Johnny was employed by York Hostess Bakery and Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe in Chambersburg. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, horseshoes, soul music, dancing and especially watching Notre Dame football. He also loved spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Johnny was a gifted athlete and had a prolific career in both basketball and baseball. He was a crafty left-handed pitcher and threw three no hitters while playing for Lewistown High School. He also starred on the basketball team averaging over 17 points a game for three years.
Johnny will be deeply missed by his family and many friends who cherished his engaging personality with a wonderfully unique sense of humor.
Interment will be private.
