Glenn Richard ‘Red’ Yoder

GROTTOES, Va. – Glenn Richard “Red” Yoder, 63, of Grottoes, Va., and formerly of Belleville, died at 7:25 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at his home.

Born on Aug. 29, 1950, he was one of eight sons of the late John W. and Mary (Henry) Yoder. His wife, Roxanne L. (Bratton) Yoder, preceded him in death on March 7, 2010.

Red is survived by: children, Melissa Jane (Yoder) and Randy Henry, of Holmesville, Ohio, and Eric Scott Yoder, of York; siblings, John (Edna), of Allensville, Lester (Christine), of Sun City West, Ariz., Marlin (Anna), of Belleville, Leonard, of Mount Union, and Gilbert (Joyce), of Belleville; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darvin P. and Paul L. Yoder.

Red was a drywaller and a truck driver. For a number of years he had his own drywall business. Earlier in life he worked as a mechanic and his hobbies included performance cars.

Red made friends easily. When he became ill with cancer in Virginia, faithful friends cared for Red’s needs and saw him through difficult hospital and home stays.

Red’s body has been donated to science and will be cremated. A memorial service will be held in Virginia at a future date.
