Dorothy I. Shoemaker
LEWISTOWN – Dorothy I. Shoemaker, 95, formerly of Middle Road, Lewistown, died at 4:29 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Golden LivingCenter William Penn, Lewistown.
Born Dec. 29, 1918, in Ryde, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Nellie (Casner) Harshbarger. Her husband, William M. Shoemaker, whom she married Dec. 23, 1939, survives.
Also surviving are: three children, Ronald J. Shoemaker and wife, Carole, of Lewistown, Donald R. Shoemaker and wife, Mary, of McVeytown, and Bona L. Shirey and husband, Harry, of Reedsville; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three siblings, Jesse J. Harshbarger, Helen Harshbarger Trevitz and Earl Funk.
A homemaker, she was a member of Ryde United Methodist Church, and the Moose Family Center No. 143, Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Kurtis Swisher officiating. Interment will be in Ryde Cemetery.
