Vivian Cecelia Mowery
McCLURE – Vivian Cecelia Mowery, 77, of McClure, died at 12:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at her home.
Born on July 27, 1936, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Glen I. Stone and stepmom Edna Stone and sister to three brothers, Kenneth, Ronald and Larry Stone.
Vivian is survived by: her husband, Kenneth E. Mowery, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1957; children, Kenneth E. Mowery Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Beaver Springs, Laurel C. Archey and husband, Jeffrey, of Bloomsburg, and Lanette C. Battles and husband, Christopher, of Finksburg, Md.; and six grandchildren, Nathan and Matthew Archey, Chelsea and Kaitlin Mowery and Courtney and Ryan Battles.
She was a graduate of Lewistown High School and Missouri Flight Attendant School.
Vivian was a bookkeeper at The Sentinel, a full time homemaker and also helped run the family butcher shop for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Lawvers United Methodist Church, a community leader of Mifflin County 4-H Club, secretary at Agricultural Extension and served on the Decatur Township Election board.
She loved spending time with her family and going on hunting trips to northern Pennsylvania.
Vivian’s funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Nelson Roth officiating
Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Mount Rock Cemetery.
