John C. Swayne

DANBURY, Conn. – John C. Swayne, 51, of Danbury, Ct., died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in his home.

Born in Lewistown, he was the youngest child of the late John D. “Jack” and Phyllis E. Swayne, of Milroy.

After briefly serving in the military, John came to Danbury in 1986, as part of a construction crew. He stayed after meeting his wife to be. An enterprising individual, John became proprietor of NY-Conn Construction and NY-Conn Distributors.

He was an associate member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1042.

A generous man, he always offered help to anyone in need. He will be remembered as much for his passionate pursuits and numerous collections as he will for his love of animals and nature.

He is survived by: his wife, Katherine Haensel; his daughter, Amanda Swayne; sisters, Vera Thomas, of Reedsville, and Virginia Swayne, of Mount Joy; brother, James Swayne, of Tierra Verde, Fla.; a dozen nieces, nephews and several cousins; his close friend, Tom King, of Masten Lake, N.Y.; and many other truly good friends.

A memorial service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury, Conn. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

John would be comforted to know that his family and friends are gathering on the day that also marks the birth of his beloved mother.
