George E. Harp
LEWISTOWN – George E. Harp, 57, of Lewistown, died at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on Feb. 7, 1956, in Harrisburg, he is a son of the late Frank and Pauline (Rupp) Harp. His wife of more than 34 years, Thelma P. (Rice) Harp, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, whom he married on March 10, 1979, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: children, Thomas L. Harp, and his companion, Marie Downer, of Beavertown, Thelma P. M. Harp and her fiance, Brett Hackenberg, of Lewistown; two brothers, Charles Rupp, of Beaumont, Texas, and Franklin Harp, of Harrisburg; as well as 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mr. Harp worked as a truck driver, for PennDOT, Harrisburg and later worked for Pyle Brothers Salvage, Mt. Pleasant Mills.
George proudly served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed model cars, watching westerns and was an avid fan of Elvis Presley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Gary Krabill officiating. Interment will follow in the Maze Cemetery, Thompsontown, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Monday, at the funeral home.
