Gail Ruth Barner
HARRISBURG – Gail Ruth Barner, of Fishing Creek Valley, Harrisburg, passed away peacefully Dec. 18, 2013, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from complications of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Born Nov. 25, 1951, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Patrick A. and Ruth (Himes) Guerrini.
Gail is survived by: her husband of 33 years, Park I. Barner Jr., whom she loved dearly; her sister, Diane Shaefer, of Burnham; brothers, Roger Guerrini, of Glen Burnie, Md., and Steven Guerrini, of Waynesboro, Va.; a special nephew raised as a brother, Dale Guerrini, of Sedalia, Mo.; a long time sister in friendship, Connie Elias, of New Cumberland; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.
She graduated from Lewistown-Granville High School in 1970.
Gail worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, where she met her husband, Park, and later retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a computer systems analyst supervisor.
She volunteered at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Dauphin County Library System. She was a member of Penbrook United Church of Christ where she served on the church alter, communion, spirituality/worship, visitation and prayer chain committees and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service to celebrate Gail’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Penbrook United Church Of Christ, 56 Banks St., Penbrook.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be a luncheon to follow and everyone is invited to enjoy.
