Paulena E. ‘Dolly’ Parks
MIFFLINTOWN – Paulena E. “Dolly” Parks, 96, of Mifflintown, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born June 19, 1917, in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Nordon and Sally (Miller) VanOrmer. Her husband, Glen W. Parks, whom she married Dec. 21, 1936, died on June 7, 1993.
She is survived by: five children, Edgar L. Parks and Frederick M. Parks, both of Mifflintown, Eurifay Shawver, of Mechanicsburg, Linda Woods, of Lewistown, and Grace Darling, of Alexandria, La.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: two daughters, Eileen Bardell and Gladys A. Parks; one sister, Magnus; and one brother, Wilbur.
Paulena was a seamstress at the Mifflintown and Port Royal dress factories.
She enjoyed baking and cooking and, when her husband was living, going on Sunday afternoon car rides.
Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. James B. Wooster Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
The viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
