Margaret M. (Blough) Metzler

BELLEVILLE – Margaret M. (Blough) Metzler, 98, died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Valley View Haven.

Born on Oct. 11, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Elmer J. and Emma J. (Speicher) Blough. On June 21, 1936, she married Ross D. Metzler, who passed on Nov. 22, 1984.

Margaret is survived by: children, Ralph Metzler and wife, Carolyn, of Archbold, Ohio, Marvin Metzler and wife, Judith, of Claysburg, Avonelle Peachey and husband, Marvin, of Belleville, Elmer Metzler and wife, Violet, of Belleville, Lois Jane Lehman and husband, Elton, of Lowville, N.Y., Ross David Metzler and wife, Dolores, of Lewistown, Ruth Kuhns and husband, Wayne, of Chambersburg, Rhoda Yoder and husband, Kenneth, of Chambersburg, Shirley Yoder and husband, Sanford, of Chambersburg, and James Metzler and wife, Ruth, of McVeytown; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Yoder, of Belleville; half brother, Keith Hummel and wife, Marilyn, of Lancaster; 33 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchil- dren.

She was preceded in death by: a son, Alvin Jay Metzler; a daughter, Reba Jean Metzler; four sisters; and one brother.

Margaret was primarily a homemaker and a pastor’s wife. She was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church. She was always very involved in the church and community of the various places that her husband pastored. Margaret and her husband were the founders of the Friendship Villiage in Bedford. She enjoyed quilting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, gardening, listening to music and baking.

A celebration of life service will be held in her memory at 10:30 a.m. today, at Allensville Mennonite Church, with Pastors Wayne Kuhns, Darren Peachey and Dewayn Isaac officiating. Burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

Her family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today, at the church.
