James D. ‘Jim’ Palm
HONEY GROVE – James D. “Jim” Palm, 64, of Honey Grove, died at 5:48 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, surrounded by his family, dogs and friend, Skinny, at his family home where he was born.
Born on Sept. 22, 1949, in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late David E. and Mary E. (Walton) Palm. His wife of 39 years, Mona L. (Hellman) Palm, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Brian E. Palm, Adam L. Palm and his wife, Heather, and Carman D. Palm, and their children, Zakery, Garret, Brooke, Emmalee and Waylon, all of Honey Grove; as well as a daughter, Kelly Fields and her husband, Jason, and their children, Ryne, Hannah and Kayla, of Charleroi.
One brother, Ronald E. Palm, preceded him in death on April 9, 1994.
In earlier life, James was employed by Asplundh Tree Service and later Hazlett Tree Service for more than 32 years. Jim also owned and operated the Innfield Restaurant and Tavern, Mifflin.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and always looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Canada. His greatest joy came from spending time with his kids, grandkids and his faithful dogs.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor John Walters officiating. Interment will follow in McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery.
The viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the funeral home.
