Helen H. ‘Dutch’ Zimmerman

BELLEVILLE – Helen H. “Dutch” Zimmerman, 94, formerly of Church Street, Reedsville, passed away at 3:33 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville.

She was born June 16, 1919, in Cresson, a daughter of the late William Lloyd and Bertha Elizabeth (Wenger) Hibbs. Her husband, Cecil C. Zimmerman, preceded her in death in 1994.

Surviving are: children, Jon C. Zimmerman and wife, Candice (Crider), of Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown; sisters, Lena R. Brooks, of Illinois, and Christine H. Forman, of Texas; four grandchildren, Jared, Seth, Lucas and Leah Zimmerman; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Cyrus, Tobias and Sebastian Zimmerman.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Irma Chaffinch and Elizabeth Crankshaw, and a brother, Robert L. Hibbs.

She was a member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Reedsville. Dutch was an outstanding natural athlete. She loved playing golf and was a women’s club champion at the Lewistown Country Club. She was involved in antiques and had a shop called Cobbler’s Bench Antiques. She lived most of her life in Reedsville and was a fixture in the town as she took Rosie on their daily walk. She was an avid Penn State football fan and attended home games for more than 40 years.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 , 2013, at the Valley View Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Gerald Peachey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, at the chapel.

Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
