Wilbur E. Strawser

MT. PLEASANT MILLS – Wilbur E. Strawser, 83, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, and formerly of McAlisterville, died at 3:10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his home.

Born on May 13, 1930 in Fayette Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Clair A. and Mabel C. (Shelley) Strawser. On Jan. 6, 1951, he married his first wife, Marian E. (Shellenberger) Strawser, with whom he spent more than 25 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 1976. On Dec. 15, 1977, he married his surviving wife, Shirley A. (Diffenderfer) Freed Strawser, with whom he spent nearly 36 years of marriage.

Surviving are his children, Barry Strawser and his wife, Norine, Terry Strawser and his wife, Carol, Christopher Strawser and his wife, Connie, Lori Lauver and her husband, Barry, Craig Strawser and his wife Amy, all of McAlisterville, Lisa Strawser of Millville, Kelly Berkheimer and her husband, Carl, of Richfield, one brother, Ronald Strawser and his wife, Carolyn, of McAlisterville, and he leaves behind 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Two brothers, Dale Strawser and Palmer Strawser, preceded him in death.

He was a 1949 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville and a member of Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Mifflinburg.

Mr. Strawser was employed as a truck driver for Eastern States Agway, John Arnold Feed Mill, Mandata Poultry, as well as a self-employed poultry farmer.

Wilbur enjoyed woodworking, golfing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Along with his wife Shirley, he enjoyed volunteering at the Bethesda Mission, Harrisburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct.14, 2013, at the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, Bunkertown, with Pastor Michael C. Romig and Pastor Gregory Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Monday, at the church.
