Virginia Lee “Ginger” Schaaf
LEWISTOWN – Virginia Lee “Ginger” Schaaf, 76, of 83 Mountain View Drive, Reedsville, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Ohesson Manor.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1937, in Aberdeen, S.D, a daughter of the late Edwin J. Johnson and Ann Dorothy (Minish) Johnson. Her husband, Charles Dean Schaaf, whom she married on Dec. 30, 1955, preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2006.
She is survived by: her children, Steven J. Schaaf and his wife, Michelle, of Reedsville, Cynthia A. Aumiller and her husband, Mike, of Reedsville, and Sandra S. Herto and her husband, Roger, of Milroy; grandchildren, Lauren, Nolan, Todge, Sammy, Page and Ali; great-grandson, Easton; sister, Beverly Coulter and her husband, George, of Tuscon, Ariz.; brother, Edwin J. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Dona, of Mexico; and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Edwin Schaaf, who died in 1970.
She graduated from Aberdeen High School. She was employed as a library clerk and a cafeteria aide for the Mifflin County School District. She had also worked as a baker at Dairyland.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and her granddogs, going to her grandchildren’s sporting events, cooking and baking. She was an avid Penn State fan.
She was a member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Reedsville.
A graveside service will be private and held at the convenience of the family, at Church Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Sigler officiating.
