Thelma E. Switzer
MIFFLINTOWN – Thelma E. Switzer, 88, of the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown, and formerly of Cuba Mills, died at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Brookline.
Born on June 25, 1925, in Lack Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Mack and Marie (Hampton) Eaton. On Aug. 25, 1951, she married her late husband, William “Bill” Switzer Jr., with whom she shared nearly 44 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on April 29, 1995.
She is survived by a brother, Richard H. Eaton and his wife, Joyce, of Port Royal, a sister, Donna M. Ball, of Madison, Ohio as well as many nieces and nephews.
One brother, Carl L. Eaton, preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a 1943 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, both of Mifflintown.
Mrs. Switzer retired after 35 years as a self-employed beautician.
Thelma enjoyed reading and collecting antiques and was extremely gifted at making quilts.
According to Thelma’s wishes, all services will be private, with the Rev. James B. Wooster Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be no viewing.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly asks that memorial contributions in Mrs. Switzer’s memory be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 109 N. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
