Naomi M. Harshbarger

YEAGERTOWN – Naomi M. Harshbarger, 82, of North Derry Ave., Yeagertown, and formerly of McVeytown, died at 11:09 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at her daughters’ home in Yeagertown.

Born Nov. 20, 1930, in Wayne Twp., she was a daughter of the late Thomas L. and Virginia (Gearhart) Varner. Her husband, Alvin L. Harshbarger, preceded her in death on April 17, 1999.

Surviving are: four children, Leroy C. Harshbarger and wife, Linda, of McVeytown, Carol L. Berrier and husband, Kenneth, of Yeagertown, Connie L. Ronk, of Yeagertown, Della E. Kinser and husband, Danny, of Lewistown; 11 siblings, Luther A. Varner Sr. and wife, Loretta, of McVeytown, Charles G. Varner and wife, June, of Mount Union, Alice G. Hesser and husband, Ronald, of McVeytown, Laura Inaze Stimely, of McVeytown, Mary M. Hesser, of Lewistown, David W. Varner Sr. and wife, Donna, of McVeytown, Donald C. Varner and wife Elizabeth, of Three Springs, Hazel E. Barkley and husband, Paul, of Newport, Cuma G. Beers and husband, William, of McVeytown, Thunelda G. “Nellie” Varner, of McVeytown, Thomas M. Varner and wife, Judy, of Shirleysburg; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Anna Marie C. Wilson and Virginia Pauline Varner; and one grandson.

She was employed at the former Scotty’s Fashions in Lewistown for over 20 years, retiring in 1993.

Naomi was a member of the Ryde United Methodist Church, and most recently attended the Burnham Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Brian Myfelt officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral Home.
