Kenneth N. Dressler
McALISTERVILLE – Kenneth N. Dressler, 96, of McAlisterville, died at 9:02 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Aug. 16, 1917, in Fayette Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late John E. and Viola P. (Davis) Dressler. On March 1, 1939, he married his wife, Mary E. (Colyer) Dressler, with whom he spent more than 57 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1996.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mary Evelyn “Peach” Yeater and her husband, C. Dean, of McAlisterville; a daughter-in-law, Diane Dressler, of Evendale; siblings, Esther Henry, of Mifflintown, Helen McNemar, of Van Dyke, Annabelle Gordon and her husband, Ronald, of McAlisterville, Sam Dressler, of McAlisterville, Paul Dressler and his wife, Mary Jane, of Mifflintown, Ceylon “Dick” Dressler and his wife, Betty, of Harrisburg, and Lawrence Dressler and his wife, Shirley, of Millerstown; four grandchildren, Chris Dressler, Ryan Dressler, Allison Pyle, and Lindsay Mehring; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by: one son, Kenneth D. Dressler; two grandsons, Daniel Yeater and Rev. Dr. Norman Yeater; one sister, Ruth Goodling; one brother, Simon Dressler; and a long time special friend, Jeanette Lukens.
He was a member of Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, Bunkertown, where he served as usher and recorder of attendance.
Mr. Dressler was employed at Standard Steel, Burnham, for 39 years as a fireman, until his retirement in 1981.
Ken enjoyed woodworking in his shop, hunting and fishing in later life. He also loved antique and classic cars. Many considered him a patent-less inventor, however, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, from the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, Bunkertown, with Pastor Gregory Jones and Mr. Ronald Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
The viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, at the church.

The family would like to thank the Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, Altoona, for providing Ken with a machine so that he could read his bible every day.
