Gerald R. ‘Tuffy’ Brittain
MIFFLIN – Gerald R. “Tuffy” Brittain, 83, of 10 Breann Drive, Milroy, died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
He was born May 2, 1930, in Siglerville, to the late Thomas Solomon and Sylvia Edessa (Reed) Brittain. His wife, Virginia L. “Sis” (Kenawall) Brittain, preceded him in death on Feb. 15, 2004.
Also preceding him in death were: brothers, Harvey A. and Thomas M. Brittain; sisters, Ivy M. Snook, Ethel Pecht and Shirley J. Lewis; and infant sisters, Rosalie Brittain and Mary Brittain.
He is survived by: children, Gerald L. Brittain and wife, Judy, of Milroy, Dennis K. Brittain and wife, Linda, of Milroy, and Terry D. Brittain and wife, Theodora, of Lewistown; sisters, Mrs. Boyd (Lavenia) Hostetler, of Uniontown and Mrs. James (Selma) Jackson, of Reedsville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He has worked for Hillcrest Poultry Farm, Siglerville, and retired from Standard Steel, Burnham, in 1993 with 23 years of service.
He was a member of the Siglerville White Memorial Church.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating. There will be no viewing. Interment will take place at Salem Cemetery, Siglerville.
