D. Eugene Leyder

DANVILLE – D. Eugene Leyder, 67, of Richfield, died at 5:18 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Jan. 30, 1946, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of the late Paul and Emma Leyder. On Oct. 19, 1968, he married his surviving wife Linda M. (Shrawder) Leyder, with whom he shared nearly 45 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Michelle Leyder, of Richfield.

One son, Mark E. Leyder, preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2009.

Mr. Leyder was a 1965 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus, and a life member of the Middleburg Moose Lodge.

Earlier in life he had worked for two years at Triangle Pacific Cabinets, Thompsontown, after which he was employed for 20 years by Zimmer Homes, Selinsgrove, and later he retired with 22 years of service from Wood Mode, Kramer.

Gene enjoyed riding his motorcycle, attending the Carlisle Car Shows and showing his prize winning Corvette. During his lifetime he held a very special interest in raising his three Huskies.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Pastor J. Arthur Mott officiating. Interment will be private.

There will be no viewing, however, family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service
