Christine R. Hutchinson
MIFFLINTOWN – Christine R. Hutchinson, 87, of Brookline Manor, Mifflintown, and formerly of Port Royal, died at 11:55 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Brookline Manor.
Born Aug. 30, 1926, in Tyrone, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Alma (Love) Bell. Her husband, John H. Hutchinson, preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1997.
She is survived by: four children, Chris Rice, of Port Royal, Jennifer L. Marshall and husband, George, of Honey Grove, Samuel M. Rice, of Valpariso, Ind., and Matthew S. Rice, of Rebersburg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Christine was also preceded in death by: a sister, Joann Bell, a halfbrother, George Bell Jr., and a halfsister, Katherine Bell.
She was a 1944 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal, and attended Juniata College, Huntingdon.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, and was a member of the church’s Victory Class.
She was an avid traveler and loved attending horse races with her sister in Kentucky. She also enjoyed attending local concerts and antique sales, as well as spending time with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Crystal M. Lyde officiating. Interment will take place at a later time in Petersburg Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
