George T. Plank

LEWISTOWN – George T. Plank, 76, of Lewistown, died at 1:09 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Born Aug. 23, 1937 in Burnham, he was the son of the late Chalmer and Dorothy (Miller) Plank.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. “Peg” Plank on Jan. 22, 2011; his brothers, Gene, Daryl and Jerry Plank.

George is survived by his children, Jerry Plank and companion Tina Burge, of Burnham, Cindy Walker, of Milroy, Deb Wertz and companion Terry Stewart, of Lewistown, Steve Plank of Lewistown, Timothy Plank and wife Melissa, of Reedsville; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Plank and wife Peg, of Middleburg, and Donald Plank and wife Kay, of Burnham.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Early in life, he was a bartender at the Fame Fire Company; he was a retired truck driver and was employed at various local companies.

George took care of most of his neighbor’s yards; he enjoyed watching Sprint Car and Dirt Track racing; he was a big sports enthusiast and loved his gospel music.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main Street with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
