George J. Romig

McCLURE – George J. Romig, 70, of McClure, died at 3:49 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at Sunbury Community Hospital.

Born Feb. 8, 1943, in McClure, he was the son of the late Jacob and Jenny (Baker) Romig.

He is survived by: his wife, Elizabeth (Barlett) Romig whom he married on Nov. 17, 1977; and his step-children, Robin VanScyoc and husband Donald, of McClure; Michael Heister, of Mifflintown; Dawn Suloff and husband Rick, of Lewistown; Walter Davis, of Lewistown; and he helped to raise a nephew, George T. Romig, of McClure; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He is also survived by: his siblings, Faye McKnight, of McClure; Irene Goss, of Shinglehouse, Paul Romig, Sr. and wife Marsha, of McClure.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

George was a graduate of Chief Logan High School and was employed at Standard Steel in Burnham for 34 years.

He enjoyed time with his family and friends, farming, hunting and fishing.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in George’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
