Thelma L. Speck
HUNTINGDON -Thelma L. Speck, 84, formerly of Mill Creek, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the Huntingdon Nursing and Rehab Center, where she resided for the past two years.
Born May 10, 1929, in Mill Creek, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Ann E. (Cullen) Sheets. She married Harry O. Speck on Sept. 23, 1946, in Winchester, Va., he preceded her in death on May 15, 2011.
Surviving are: children, Richard C. Speck, of Reynoldsville, Donna Lee Yocum-West, of Belleville, and Susan M. White, of Anniston, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; as well as sisters Dorothy M. Smith and Mrs. Warren (Mary Ann) Bailey, both of Huntingdon.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Patrick Sheets.
She attended Mill Creek Elementary School.
She was a member of the Mill Creek Bible Fellowship Church.
She was a member of the Auxillary of Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754, Mount Union, and Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company Auxillary.
She worked as a nursing assistant at Valley View Haven Home in Belleville.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek, with the Rev. George “Buddy” Baird officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon.
