Myron W. ‘Scut’ Zeiders

LEWISTOWN – Myron W. “Scut” Zeiders, 88, formerly of Yeagertown, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Ohesson Manor.

Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Shamokin Dam, he was a son of the late Norman N. and Susan (Winey) Zeiders.

He is survived by: his sister, B. Geraldine “Deanie” Earp, of Yeagertown; his brother, Robert L. Zeiders and wife, Joan, of Greensburg; nieces and nephews, Susan Earp, of Lewistown, Tom Earp, of Etters, Laura Henry, of Cincinatti, and Ben Zeiders, of Jenkinstown; five great- nieces and -nephews; and four great-great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Zeiders.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Archerfish.

Early in life, he was employed by the American Viscose Corporation for 27 years, retiring in 1975. He was then employed at the Lewistown Municipal Authority at the Laurel Creek Reservoir for 12 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Yeagertown Volunteer Fire Co.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Heller- Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., with the Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Yeagertown Lutheran Cemetery.
