James S. Young III

SIGLERVILLE – James S. Young III, 86, of Siglerville, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, surrounded by his children and his long-time companion, Jeanne Lemmon, at his sister’s farm in Siglerville.

Born on Nov. 29, 1926, at Lewistown Hospital, he was the eldest son of the late James S. Young Jr. and Hazel Mae (Bulick) Young, of Reedsville.

James is survived by his children, John Michael Young, of Warrenton, Va., Christopher Scott Young, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and Jennifer Lynn Hellman, of Norfolk, Va., as well as six grandchildren, Brandy Young, Thomas Hellman, Alyssa Hellman, Shannon Young, Katie Young and Jessica Young.

He is also survived by seven siblings, Joan Heinzelmann, of Nashua, N.H., Helen King, of New Cumberland, Roberta “Pip” Aumiller, of Camp Hill, John “Jack” Young, of New Cumberland, William Young, of Mechanicsburg, Dennis Young, of State College, and Pamela Ishler, of Camp Hill.

James was preceded in death by one son, Martin James Young.

James started his career as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy and retired as a physical science technician from the Department of the Navy. James spent the better part of his career improving the safety and efficiency of submarines. He was an accomplished woodworker and his passions in life included antiquing, the outdoors, hunting, home improvement and landscaping. He was a devoted father and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Bohn Funeral Home, in Reedsville, followed by a committal ceremony in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Milroy.

The family invites all friends and family for fellowship and lunch at 12:30 p.m. at the Milroy Hose Co.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial gift in his name be given to the Food Bank operated by the Milroy United Methodist Church, 91 S. Main St. Milroy, PA 17063.
