Elizabeth May ‘Did’ Hower
McALISTERVILLE – Elizabeth May “Did” Hower, 88, of McAlisterville, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born on Feb. 21, 1925, in Granville, she was a daughter of the late Rolla Franklin McLucas and Eliza B. (Watt) McLucas- Heister, and her stepfather, Earl “Shorty” Heister.
She was also preceded her in death by her husband, George Maxwell Hower, whom she married on July 11, 1950, on April 21, 2001, and two brothers, Edwin Heister and Robert Heister.
She is survived by: her daughter, Sharon Ann Hower, of McAlisterville; son, Steven George Hower and wife, Donna, of Port Royal; and a sister, Anna Mary Rittenhouse, of Lewistown.
Elizabeth was a 1942 graduate of Lewistown High School.
She was a Methodist by faith.
Earlier in life, she worked at Etta Bender’s Store in Granville. She was also employed by Lewistown Shirt Factory, and later, as a homemaker.
She enjoyed life on the farm and seeing nature all around. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans and working on her word find books.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor Edward D’Agostino officiating.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Good Will Cemetery, Bunkertown.
