Ruth A. Nipple

THOMPSONTOWN – Ruth A. Nipple, 96, of Thompsontown (Maze), went to help prepare a family meal in her heavenly home on Sunday, July 7, 2013.

Born on Sept. 9, 1916, in Fayette Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late David I. and Mary Ella (Brubaker) Long. On July 15, 1933, she married Sharon S. Nipple, with whom she shared more than 75 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2008.

Surviving are: her children, the Rev. Ronald S. Nipple and his wife, Mary Jane, of Lewistown, Shirley N. Stuck and her husband, Joel, of Middleburg, Darwin Nipple and his wife, Lynda, of McAlisterville, Trudy N. Oberholtzer and her husband, Harold, of Thompsontown; a daughter-in-law, Mary Nipple, of Port Royal; and she leaves behind nine grandchildren, Sherry Bailor, Sydnee Jones, Sharlene Jury, Susan Myers, Sally Annis, Debra Zook, Rodney Gearhart, Barbie Jo Stuck and Benjamin Oberholtzer; two step-grandchildren, Tara Novosel and Stephen Novosel; thirteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, S. David Nipple and she is the last of her generation, having been preceded in death by six siblings, Marion Luckenbill, Gladys Swartz, Wilbur Long, Glenn Long, Dorothy Dressler and Suie Fox.

Mrs. Nipple was a member of the Whiteland United Methodist Church, Maze, the One in the Spirit Gospel Ministry and O.A.S.I.S. of Juniata County.

Ruth was a homemaker who also worked as a seamstress at several local factories.

Ceramics was something Ruth enjoyed doing.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with her son, the Rev. Ronald S. Nipple officiating. Interment will follow in the Maze Cemetery, Thompsontown.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
