Kenneth R. Kephart
MILROY – Kenneth R. Kephart, 73, of 207 Broad St., Milroy, went to be with his Lord at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013. He entered into eternal rest at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on July 11, 1939, in Milroy, to the late Ernest O. and Hazel M. (Empfield) Kephart. He was married on Dec. 24, 1957, to Darlene K. (Wagner) Kephart, who survives.
He is also survived by: children, Terry R. Kephart and wife, Ruth Ann, of Milroy, Beth A. Corson and husband, Harry W. Jr, of Reedsville, and Gina M. Himes and husband, Steve, of Milroy; siblings, Evelyn Kephart Palmer, of Maine, and Doris Kephart and Nancy Kephart Allen, both of Milroy; nine grandchildren, Lindsay Stevens, Courtney Kephart, Ashley Newman, Lauren Reed, Teri Kephart, Kylie Corson and Taylor, Logan and Cassie Himes; four great-grandchildren, Aaden Stevens, Lilly Newman, Molly Reed and soon-to-be Baby Girl Newman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest “Sonny” Kephart Jr. and a stillborn infant sister, Rose Marie Kephart.
He was a 1957 graduate of Armagh-Brown High School.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years and Army National Guard for more than 20 years.
He retired from New Holland, Belleville, in 1998 after 35 years of service. For many years, he was the owner and operator of Kepharts 322 Diner.
He had been church council president, choir director, Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Siglerville.
He was a member of the Milroy Lions Club and Milroy Hose Co. fire police, where he was the chaplain. In earlier years, he had been midget football coach, Babe Ruth baseball coach, Boy Scout leader and Kish Band Booster president for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved making and flying remote-control model airplanes. He also enjoyed the company of his little dog “Buddy.”
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with the Rev. Rosalie Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville.
