Charles E. Shoener

LEWISTOWN – Charles E. Shoener, 85, of Alfarata Road, Lewistown, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Orwigsburg, the son of the late Herbert and Mary (Osenbach) Shoener. Charles is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hoover Shoener, whom he married in 1981.

Also surviving are: children, Diann Williams and husband, Anthony, of Somers, Conn., Frank Weyer and wife, Sandra, of Mechanicsburg, Christina Weyer, of Charleston, S.C., and Suzanne Krautheim and husband, Thomas, of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, Henry Shoener, of Mary-D, and Daniel Shoener, of Orwigsburg; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Linwood, Clifford and Marlin.

Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He worked as a truck driver for Fleming Foods for 40 years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and also a trustee of the church.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.

Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
