Noreene E. Stober

LEWISTOWN – Noreene E. Stober, formerly of South Charleston, W.Va., and Mechanicsburg, returned to her Heavenly Father at 6:53 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Ohesson Manor.

She was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Anna (Thomasko) and Norman Guther. She was the sister of the late Clifford Guther and Berwyn Guther.

Her loving husband, of sixty years, whom she married July 3, 1944, John T. Stober, preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2004.

Surviving are: a son, John T. Stober Jr. and wife, Fong, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Michal J. DelVecchio, of McVeytown, and surrogate children, Yen Noc Nguyen and wife, Nam, of Camp Hill.

Also surviving are: 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Stober Wilson and husband, Bill, Julie Stober, Kristin DelVecchio Dow and husband, Brian, Matthew DelVecchio and wife, U’Rika, Mark DelVecchio and wife, Nicole, Michael DelVecchio, Kelly DelVecchio Tindall and husband, Aaron, Kathleen DelVecchio, Kimberly DelVecchio, John Nguyen, Anthony Nguyen and wife, Mai, Jessica Nguyen; and three great-grandchildren, Cadence Dow, Cameron Tindall and Madelynn Nguyen.

Noreene worked as a secretary at Staunton Elementary School in South Charleston, W.Va., and at the Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech School. Her primary vocation was to serve her Lord and be a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She taught Sunday school, Bible school, Good News clubs, and was active in leadership roles in Luther League, Bible study groups, Child Evangelism Fellowship, church circles, Christian women’s clubs and Stonecroft Ministries. She hosted several Bible studies in her cottage.

Her greatest joys were serving her God and loving her family and others.

Her church memberships included Parma Lutheran Church in Ohio, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Bible Center in Charleston, W.Va., Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Lewistown, and Milroy White Memorial Church.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gary Roth officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, at the church.

Flowers will be provided by the family.
