Myrna Darlene Yoder

LEWISTOWN – Myrna Darlene Yoder, 74, of 431 Pine Glenn Road, Lewistown, peacefully transitioned into eternal life at 9:45 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Myrna was born Aug. 26, 1938, in Newton Hamilton, to the late Ralph and Ethel (Boone) Zeigler.

She is survived by: her husband, Edward E., whom she married on March 22, 1958; two children, Brian E. and wife, Cindy, of Lewistown, and Dana L., of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Shannon, Caleb and Joshua; one great-grandson, Kaden; and three siblings, Lana Jordan, of Middleburg, Lee Zeigler, of McVeytown, and Margaret “Peg” Bowersox, of Lewistown.

Myrna was also a Fresh Air Fund mother to Xiomaris Soriano, of New York City.

Myrna graduated from McVeytown Oliver High School in 1956. She attended nursing school at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, in Philadelphia.

She was an active member of the McVeytown United Methodist Church throughout her life, teaching Sunday school, Bible school and Bible study, serving on various boards and committees and working in the church kitchen.

Throughout her life, Myrna was a homemaker, dog groomer, 4-H sewing instructor and a mentor to many; if Myrna taught you a life lesson, you never forgot it. She enjoyed trout fishing, turkey hunting, planting flowers and simply being outdoors. She also enjoyed painting and making country crafts, which she sold in her basement shop. She was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins hockey fan. Myrna was the matriarch of her family, whom she loved very much, as well as all of her cats who brought her much comfort and love. Myrna approached life with a tenacious spirit that served her well. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her but leaves behind many treasured memories for family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of the many family, friends, neighbors and those from the Home Nursing Agency who helped take care of Myrna in her last months.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to Home Nursing Agency, 201 Chestnut Ave., P.O. Box 352, Altoona, PA 16603-0352.
