Kathryn L. Narehood
LEWISTOWN – Kathryn L. Narehood, 86, of Airport Drive, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at her home.
She was born on May 21, 1927, in Beaver Springs, a daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Dreese) Felker. On Oct. 19, 1946, she married Kenneth P. Narehood, who preceded her in death on March 3, 2002.
Kathryn was a 1946 graduate of Beaver Vocational High School.
She was a homemaker and bookkeeper, helping her husband who owned and operated Super Service Garage and Super Service Motors Inc. in Beavertown.
Kathryn was a very active and devoted member of Beaver Lutheran Church, serving on the church council at the time of her passing, and previously taught Sunday school for decades. She was also a member of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Pray Shawl group and was a representative of the Middlecreek Valley of Churches.
Kathryn was also active in the Red Hat Society, Silver Sneakers group at the Middlecreek Area Community Center, Rose Garden Committee, Beavertown School and Garden Club, Beavertown War Memorial Committee, Beavertown Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 222, Selinsgrove, for more than 50 years.
Surviving are: daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Howard Benner Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Mary Narehood; daughter Sue Nerhood; six grandchildren, Howard Benner III and fiance, Deanna Neidig, Kenneth Todd Benner and wife, Julie, Stacey Keefer and husband, David, Angela, Pamela and Guy Narehood; great-grandchildren, Andrew Benner and wife, Gabrielle, Curtis Benner and fiance, Jola Bahajak, Marrhew Keefer, Dorinda Benner, Kaitlyn Narehood, Makyah Narehood-Allen, Travis, Kaitlyn and Josh Neidig, David Keefer Jr. and Jennifer Gabel; great-great-grandchildren, Keegan and Elesia Benner; one brother, Ned Felker; and one sister, Betsy Ann Klingler. Kathryn had a special place in her heart for Maggie, Ellie and Lola.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one brother, Joe Felker; one sister, Helen Howell; and one son-in- law, Scott Nerhood.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2013, at Beaver Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Nathan Baker-Trinity officiating.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, in Beavertown.
Arrangements are by Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
