Helen M. Welch

LEWISTOWN – Helen M. Welch, 92, of Lewistown, died at 7:08 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Golden LivingCenter – William Penn.

Born on Sept. 2, 1920, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Harry Fern and Bessie I. (Ulsh) Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Welch, on Nov. 7, 2003.

She is survived by a good friend and caretaker, David Habbershon.

Helen was a 1938 graduate of Lewistown High School.

She worked as a safe deposit box attendant, retiring from Mellon Bank after 55 years.

Helen was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a social member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Her activities included: past mother advisor to Order of Rainbow for Girls, past worthy Matron of Lewistown Chapter No. 283, Order of the Eastern Star, P.W.S. Galilee Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem and Auxiliary to Lewistown Commander No. 26 Knights of the Templar.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in St. Marks Cemetery with the Revs. Gary Roth and Narda Druckenmiller officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Marks Cemetery.
