Elizabeth Rose ‘Betty’ Ehrenzeller

MIFFLINTOWN – Elizabeth Rose “Betty” Ehrenzeller, 90, formerly of Licking Creek Valley, died peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Brookline Manor, surrounded by family members.

Born in Schuyler, Neb., on Oct. 9, 1922, Betty was the daughter of the late Andrew and Irene (Pollard) Heitz. She was the wife of John A. Ehrenzeller, whom she married on March 2, 1946, and who died on Nov. 30, 1977.

She is survived by: four sons, Randy and his wife, Patty, of Tunkhannock, Greg and his wife, Marge, of North Wales, Tony and his wife, Jennie, of Falls Church, Va., and Jeff and his wife, Veronica, of Lone Tree, Colo.; two daughters, Cathy Dysinger and her husband, Dave, and Jean Lupolt and her husband, Phil, all of Mifflintown; one sister, Irene Foust, of Fremont, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Strnad and Rita Huismann.

Betty moved from Nebraska to Licking Creek Valley in 1946 and resided there for more than 66 years, raising her family and caring for friends and neighbors. She was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the St. Jude Women’s Guild. She worked as a cafeteria cook at Tuscarora Junior High School for many years. After retiring, she traveled and participated in swimming, exercise classes and bowling. She enjoyed baking, doing crewel work, reading and watching Penn State football.

Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother who enjoyed family and holiday gatherings. She cared for others by visiting the sick and shut-ins and she was always there to visit with neighbors and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 3918 William Penn Highway, Mifflintown, with the Rev. William Weary officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a Scripture Service beginning at 8:30 p.m. at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
