Clair D. DeLong
LEWISTOWN – Clair D. DeLong, 89, of Lewistown, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 29, 1923, in Lehigh County, he was a son of the late William and Lulu (Bittner) DeLong.
He is survived by: his wife, Alice (Gensler) DeLong, whom he married on June 29, 1946; his children, David William DeLong, of North Canton, Ohio, and Elizabeth Ann Torres and husband, Hector, of Cleveland, Ohio; and his sister, Annalu Fenstermaker, of Slatedale.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Clair received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Penn State University and he did graduates courses from Cornell University.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was employed by Agriculture Extension at Penn State for over 40 years.
Clair was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, in Lewistown; Kiwanis Club; Retired Air Force Group; Slatington Lodge F&AM; Jaffa Shrine of Altoona and Williamsport Consistory.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak St., Lewistown, with Pastor Narda Druckenmiller officiating. Interment will be in Granview Cemetery, in Allentown.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
