Sharon D. Bailey

LEWISTOWN – Sharon D. Bailey, 61, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, Russell W. Bailey, at 2:39 p.m. April 27, 2013.

She was born on Sept. 4, 1951, at home, in McVeytown, the daughter of Effie (Miller) and J. Elwood Strauser, both deceased.

Sharon is survived by: a sister, Linda “Kay” Strauser Stapleton and husband, Dean, of Florida; a brother, James Strauser and wife, Cecelia “Dawni” Schrock Strauser, of Florida; three sons, Donald A. Byler, of Huntingdon, Ronald A. Byler and wife, Sheri (Yoder) Byler, of Belleville, and Ryan N. Byler and wife, Naomi (Yount) Byler, of Greencastle; and two stepdaughters, Breanne (Bailey) Gilkey and husband, Kevin Gilkey, of Lewistown, and Lindsay (Bailey) Terry and husband, Shawn “Newt” Terry, of Burnham.

Sharon enjoyed “going exploring” with Eve, Riley, Levi and Evan anywhere in nature and cuddling with Ella and Shayne.

She was a published writer of poetry and stories, a certified massage therapist and was known for making beautiful quilts, handmade treasures and her photography. She was a nurturer of plants and flowers and people whose lives touched hers.

A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Brian Hampton officiating. Interment will be private in Maitland Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
